Another Year… and So I’m 37

I love the sunsets. Apart from it being a beautiful sight to witness… I like what it symbolizes. HOPE. It gives a bittersweet representation of life. When the sun sets, it closes the day to mark its end, but it also leaves with the promise to come back tomorrow. Bitter. Sweet.

I Should’ve Brought My Surgery Set

In the latest dental mission I went to, I worked independent from my team. I was invited to join a nationwide Medical-Dental event that was participated by various sectors but I came on my own, so I came representing You and Your Teeth Dental Clinic (my dental practice), and Team Jesus (my mission team).

More confident with my own instruments, I have been accustomed to bringing my set, despite how heavy it is, but I was told I didn’t have to bother because they will bring the instruments. It was more convenient that way, of course, because a full surgery set is quite heavy and it’s much fun to travel light. So I was grateful for that. It seemed perfect–but I was wrong because…

Writing Your God Story

In the Bible, Genesis opens with a hopeful “In the beginning” and it ends in Revelation, with a fulfilling “Amen”. The start and finish of most things is definitive. Our lives are the same, because it starts and ends, but in the middle… that is where you make a difference.

God Said, Love One Another

“A new command I give to you: Love one another.
As I have loved you, so you must love one another”

-John 13:34-

There’s just too much hate in the world. Two Sundays ago, the message in service was to “love one another”. I guess it’s easier said than done, especially now, when hate is the most convenient emotion you can bring out. The pastor said, as human beings, our normal and automatic response to negative stimuli could either be anger, annoyance, disappointment and so forth. But God calls us all to be calm, understanding and forgiving…

Let’s Talk About Death and Taxes

“In this world, nothing can be said to be certain except Death and Taxes”

-Benjamin Franklin

Early last year, a friend’s mom passed away. A few months after, I attended another funeral and not long after that, a friend’s dad fell seriously ill. It left me distraught. I talked to my mom about it and she said, “It’s the circle of life. You are born, you live, and you die. And for people my age, we are slowly coming to our end”. She is right of course. Ben Franklin was right too. Everyone eventually meets their end (although some earlier than expected) we all go through the same story, albeit with differing twists and turns. You’re born, you live, you die.

Dear PDiggy: It’s You Against the World

Despite your high 91% trust rating, the 16 million electoral mandate, the Congress super majority, and the continued support you get from people like myself–I feel sorry for you. I feel sorry because despite the number of people who believe in you, you are battling this on your own.

Working with ARMS (Asian Relief and Medical Services)

Early this year I got invited to join a Medical and Dental Mission to Bicol. I’ve always enjoyed going to these things, but I don’t get invited to a lot, and this ARMS trip is a special one so I was ecstatic. I was initially asked to join for a week, but later on I was told that I needed to stay for two, and after praying I decided to go for it. I was telling myself: “Crix you’ve been praying for something like this for a long time. You have been looking for a way to serve the Lord and this is it. Why are you having second thoughts about it?” So I asked my assistant to block the dates and I booked my ticket.
